Which movie would you show to aliens to represent humans and human nature?

It shows our big hearts, our big fears, our paranoia, and hopefully that overall we are a peaceful, if not alien friendly, species.

Our three cats all went into my bathroom this evening and stayed in there without making a sound. So, I mentioned this to my girl. She says, "Maybe they're having an orgy in there." I didn't look...she did, and the conversation got stranger from there.

Here are five questions posed to me by inked_freak

1. What are you looking forward to the most with your girl moving in with you.
Hmm...how to phrase the answer to this? The thing I am looking forward to the most is getting to *really* know her. When you are with someone only on the weekends I think you can only get to know them so well. I'm looking forward to getting to know her in *all* of her ways.

2. What are you the most proud of in your life thus far?
This may sound narcissistic, but I'm proud that I have managed to recover from the mistakes I've made in the past and finally grabbed "a piece of the pie" as the theme to "The Jeffersons" put it. I've managed to get into an employment & financial situation that I'm pretty comfortable with.

3. How did you and your girl meet? Sorry, this really is cheating but i want to know, so i am copying anyway, lol!
You may find the answer to this a bit anticlimactic. My girl contacted me through the Collarme.com website. Perhaps your question should have been where did we first meet at? Don't forget to ask about the Venn diagram...

4. Do you think the amount of time in D/s mode will change in your relationship when you are in the same home all of the time?
Yes and no. We are always in D/s mode so to speak. That's not to say the collars & cuffs are out all the time, rather that D/s is part of the foundation of our relationship. I do expect that there will be some increase in protocol and rituals though.

5. What is the best thing so far about home ownership?

Well, the test result for Dax came back positive for FIP. After I got home from work I spent a bit of time with him and then I took him in to the vet clinic to be put to sleep. I didn't stay for the actual procedure, I could have but didn't have the heart for it. The staff there was very nice and let me hang out with him in an exam room for quite a while before I left him to their care. I'm looking forward to some snuggle therapy with my older cat. He probably doesn't realize that Dax is gone since I have the room Dax was in closed off until I can clean it properly.

I'm sad but a bit relieved that it is over. If it had to be done it was best done quickly, instead of making the sweet guy linger on. I appreciate everyone's thoughts and wishes. Now it is time to move on.

Dax back in June. I hope he pull through but the prognosis isn't good so far...

During Thanksgiving the younger of my two cats started to demonstrate some alarming symptoms so I took him in for an emergency vet appointment. My vet clinic is just outstanding. The answering service was good and the vet on call called me back within 15 minutes. This was at about noon on Thursday. She said she could meet me at the office in about three hours or I could take him to a 24 hour clinic. I opted to wait the three hours.

At 3:00 pm the doctor was looking him over. What had concerned me was that he couldn't walk very far without falling over. He kind of walked like he was drunk. The physical didn't turn up anything so she said to bring him back the next day for a blood draw (she didn't want to send a day old blood sample to the lab).

So, today (Saturday) I got the main results of the blood work. There is one more test result that the doctor wants to see, but so far all of the indicators point towards Feline infectious peritonitis, also called (FIP). It seems very likely that my 20 month old cat has "dry" FIP. Don't worry about the distinction between "dry" and "wet" FIP. The bottom line is that FIP is a fatal illness. Needless to say, this has me pretty broken up but I'm managing to remain calm and logical in between periods of being teary eyed. We will not have the last test result until Monday or perhaps Tuesday. For now I am giving him antibiotics and trying to get him to drink a bit of milk from time to time. All of that though is out of hope that it isn't FIP. If the last test indicates FIP, I'll have him put to sleep because I can see he is quite unhappy. He doesn't seem to be in any pain, but he doesn't want to move hardly at all and when he does move he tends stagger and fall over! He can't even get all the way into his litter box.

For now I am spending a little time with him once in a while and just letting him rest. We tried a bit of lap time but he showed he wasn't interested in that. He is a little trooper though, I've managed to get a little bit of a purr out of him by petting him gently while he rests. I am really not holding out much hope for my young man (his name is Dax). The vet sounded pretty convinced that it is FIP. I'm just trying to give him the best shot at making it that I can and making him as comfortable as possible. This last test result could come back negative. We'll find out Monday or Tuesday.

I figured I was long over due to post an entry so here is some good news (the bad news is under a separate post).
My Girl moves in with me in three weeks! The big change was delayed until the end of the current semester due to her class load plus her working a part time job. I've put off certain things, mainly decorating, until after she gets settled in. I figured there was no sense in my hanging pictures up just to have to move them when her pictures got added to the mix. I am WAY excited by this.

After she moves in we can get everything all arranged. We'll need some additional furniture. Most notably dining room chairs, a sofa for the family room, and most importantly...a St. Andrew's Cross for the playroom! All of that will take time since all these things cost money!

I've already decided that once a month I'll have a french maid cleaning the house. The problem will be leaving the maid alone long enough for her to get her duties taken care of. Does anyone know a good place for plus sized maid's uniforms??

Well, I just got done mowing the lawn of my first house for the very first time. I am reminded of a distant day back in 7th grade. Some of the other guys in gym class were talking about "looking forward to when their whiskers would start growing in and they would be a real man". At the time I thought to myself, "Yeah, looking forward to having to shave my face or groom my beard every day for the rest of my life. Doesn't sound too great to me." I have decided that lawns are like that.

On the other hand, my lawn is a lot more useful than my whiskers. Maybe that's why it takes so long to shave...

Here's an update on the house and on the future plans for me and my girl. You will see in a moment why I phrase it in that order.

I close on the house on this Thursday (9/17).

On next Saturday (9/26) Two Men and a Truck will move me from my second floor apartment into my one level (ranch style) house.  They moved me once before and it was some of the best money I've ever spent.  I HIGHLY recommend them.

I save the best for last...my precious girl will be moving in with me, either after the fall semester or after she graduates.  It really all depends on logistics.  The house is a long way from where she works right now and it's far from campus.  Next semester her schedule may be light enough to make it work better.

The next step is to get me moved and for us to decide how our house will be decorated.  I may be lucky enough to be one of the few men who actually has a say in what the curtains look like!  Sometimes it's good to be the Dominant.  Of course...I also know what a good idea it is to keep my girl happy.
